ENG: “Híbridos” is half catalogue published by the Art Center Reina Sofia, and the other half publication of the artist Antoni Muntadas. The catalogue shows the materialization of an exhibition that was made at Centro de Arte Reina Sofía between February and March of 1988, where two main targets were scored. On the one hand it was intended to demonstrate the breadth of vision and diversity of interests and media present in the work of Antoni Muntadas; but the purpose was not to provide a retrospective.

ENG: ..Whereas much of Muntadas’s previous work has relied upon the advertising image or the media image as a means of delivering his comment, Exhibition eliminates any outward signs of image-manipulation. Instead we are confronted with the “context” of a reading. The various media, normally found within an avant-garde art gallery situation, are present (omnipresent?). They constitute the code of our looking. Each medium — each unit of the lighted display — is reduced to its own specific parameters. Again, there is an appeal to the Modernist aspect of self-criticality.

ENG: This catalogue, published in 1982 as part of the exhibition "Media Landscape" at The Addison Gallery of American Art shows the artistic journey and audiovisual work of the artist Antoni Muntadas, with projects such as N / S / E / W (Venice Biennale, 1976), Between the Lines (1979), Two Landscapes (1979), La television (Madrid, 1980), Personal / Public (New York, 1980), Wet & Dry (New York, 1981)... among others. The exhibition, Media Landscape, is more importantly a description of his view of today's world.

This book organizes and compiles the work of 21 artists. Itself an artistic endeavor, the book explores the content and meaning of the "public image" generated by mass media, and the appropriation of art and images in popular culture, by the government and by big businesses.

Pamplona - Grazalema is the result of a series of visual-media and antropological work done from 1975 to 1979. The social sciences and the visual arts are combined in an interdisciplinary attempt to study the evolution of the fiesta of the bull in Spain.
