Volume Collection presents a group of contemporary artists whose artistic concepts are presented/realized in the form of a book - be it the printed book in form of the book - object, video, web art, performance, action, photography or conceptual painting. Artistic practices presented in this project communicate from a very particular standpoint. They are critically engaged in respect to the dominant political and economic order of contemporary societies and in respect to global market systems and art theories. 

Archives and data banks are primarily determined by these gaps and silent documents. As Sven Spieker notes, "Archives are less concerned with memory than with the necessity to discard, erase, eliminate." Creating archives is continual selection. As such, it reveals the priorities and blind spots of the keeper of the archives, his world and his time.

The "Lives and Works in Istanbul" project was introduced as one of these means of encounter at the highest level of contemporary art by the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency, Visual Arts Directorate. The aim was to create a dialogue and production between a selected group of senior artists from EU countries, representing different artistic curricular, and a group of artists from Turkey. The project also put to the test whether or not Istanbul is truly a source of inspiration and a city that is attractive to international artists.

Con motivo del bicentenario de la Guerra de la Independencia, la Sociedad Estatal de Conmemoraciones Culturales (SECC), el Ayuntamiento de Zaragoza y la Fundación Zaragoza 2008 han organizado la exposición Libertad, igualdad y fraternidad en la que, a partir de hoy, participan quince artistas españoles, catorce franceses y dos portugueses que presentan una obra que responda a la divisa que da título a la muestra.

El Ministerio de Cultura del Gobierno de España, el Instituto Cervantes y Casa Asia organizan los días 9 y 10 de diciembre en Tokio el “Diálogo sobre Nuevas Culturas Urbanas”. A través de varias sesiones en torno al cine, el diseño y los videojuegos, destacados creadores españoles hablarán de sus obras más innovadoras acompañados de varios representantes de la cultura japonesa más contemporánea. Los diálogos se complementan con la participación de Antoni Muntadas, la conferencia de Javier Mariscal y con la exposición de Jordi Labanda.
 

Of Bridges & Borders" is a project in a book form. It brings together artists and writers, combines a range of singular positions, chronicles contributions whose formats vary as widely as their content, and aims to create new readings by proximity, difference, comparison, and contradiction. Chronologically, it spans the period after the fall of the Berlin Wall to the present; conceptually, it contains a broad range of works made in a variety of media, all of them dynamically joined in a manner that consciously contrasts with the traditional encyclopedia structure. 

Ha alcanzado con creces la mayoría de edad, ya va por la 22 edición, pero el reto continúa. Antes como ahora, la responsabilidad tiene como horizonte a la excelencia. Límite cuya búsqueda es su mejor carta de presentación, una auténtica apuesta y también la mejor garantía para el futuro. 

La exposición es maleable y cuenta con un planteamiento abierto que es permeable a lo realizado durante el curso. Una apuesta que es inasequible al desaliento y está contra la cómoda rutina de la repetición. Por eso, cada edición tiene la obligación de ser la primera y la mejor. 

The goal of Rencontres Internationales is to reveal the peculiarities and convergences of artistic practice between cinema and contemporary art, while pointing out new trends and tendencies that have emerged as a result of the shrinking boundaries between the media arts.

This DVD marks the twentieth anniversary of the Visual Arts Program, founded in 1989 within the School of Architecture and Planning at MIT by Professor Ed Levine. From the outside, the VAP is best known for its Masters of Science in Visual Studies (SMVisS), a two-year graduate program. In 2009, the Visual Arts Program became the program in Art, Culture, and Technology (ACT), merging with the Center for Advanced Visual Studies, which was created in 1967 by Hungarian emigre Gyorgy Kepes.
