La Colección Rafael Tous, donada al MACBA hace solo un año, es el retrato de un momento y unas prácticas artísticas concretas. Coleccionista apasionado vinculado al mundo textil, Rafael Tous apostó por el arte de concepto como conjunto de prácticas plurales que priorizaban la idea y el proceso antes que el objeto. Sin intención especulativa y de manera intuitiva, Tous configuró un fondo que reúne las actitudes y los trabajos experimentales de un grupo de artistas con quienes, en muchos casos, estableció vínculos de amistad, además de acompañarles en su crecimiento artístico.

Esta colección contiene el testimonio de una generación que, situada fuera de los circuitos convencionales del arte, se reunió en torno a exposiciones y espacios culturales alternativos. 

En tiempo real. La Colección Rafael Tous de arte conceptual muestra un recorrido significativo por las prácticas experimentales de los años setenta y ochenta en Catalunya a través de varios ámbitos. El arte de acción, la interacción con la naturaleza, el interés por los medios de comunicación y el nuevo consumismo, la crítica social y política, la palabra y la incorporación del objeto son algunos de los aspectos tratados. Las obras presentadas visibilizan las inclinaciones y preferencias del coleccionista particular, que en el acto de coleccionar encuentra su propia forma de expresión.

The Rafael Tous Collection, donated to MACBA just a year ago, is the portrait of a moment and specific artistic practices. A passionate collector linked to the textile world, Rafael Tous was committed to concept art as a set of plural practices that prioritized the idea and the process rather than the object. Without speculative intention and intuitively, Tous configured a collection that brings together the attitudes and experimental works of a group of artists with whom, in many cases, he established bonds of friendship, in addition to accompanying them in their artistic growth.

This collection contains the testimony of a generation that, located outside the conventional art circuits, gathered around exhibitions and alternative cultural spaces. 

En tiempo real. La Colección Rafael Tous de arte conceptual art shows a significant journey through the experimental practices of the seventies and eighties in Catalonia through several areas. Action art, interaction with nature, interest in the media and the new consumerism, social and political criticism, the word and the incorporation of the object are some of the aspects dealt with. The works presented make visible the inclinations and preferences of the individual collector, who finds his own form of expression in the act of collecting.
