Unas casetas de baño al aire libre, del estilo de las habituales en las playas de Taormina —centro turístico y de veraneo, célebre por sus paisajes y por los congresos y festivales que se realizan—, contenían en su interior, visible por un pequeño agujero, un monitor en el que se presentaban breves secuencias alusivas a los lazos entre las industrias del turismo, el espectáculo y la cultura, y entre e voyeurismo, la compulsión del souvenir y la reproducción de los estereotipos.
Otras construcciones de madera reproducían el mismo perfil de las casetas, pero sin su volumen. En ambos casos, el espectador había de "retratarse" (spettatore osservato) en la postura un tanto indiscreta o caricaturesca del voyeur, el fisgón indiscreto.
Some open-air bathing huts, in the style of those often to be seen on the beaches of Taormina, a holiday resort famous for its scenery and the congresses and festivals put on there, contained inside, visible through a small hole, a monitor showing brief sequences that illustrated the links between the tourism industry, public entertainment and culture, and between voyeurism, compulsive souvenir hunting and the reproduction of stereotypes.
Other wooden constructions reproduced the same profile as the bathing huts, but without their volume. In both cases, the spectator was obliged to "portray himself" (spettatore osservato) in a somewhat indiscreet posture, a caricature of the voyeur or peeping Tom.
